Dance

To photograph the dance, it is necessary to develop an attentive eye, to beauty, the movements, the lighting of the scene and the timing. It’s necessary to develop a certain precision to capture dynamic shapes, an impressive lift or a fluctuating turn.
Dance can generate amazing, wonderful photos, but it is no secret that photographing a dance performance is very challenging: the framing, focus and release of the shutter at the right time, must be performed ensuring the best exposure, with the available light, almost always very low. It’s not only capturing the action, but also the aesthetics and emotion that drive the movement.
Elegant, energetic and dramatic dance photography is not only a visual pleasure, but at the same the study of the movement. With the purpose of conveying the spirit and skill of graceful subjects, I often choose to shoot the dancers mid-movement, showing off their graceful gestures, fixing a moment.
